Let Us Plan Your Evening in San Diego

Just because San Diego is known for its sunshine and offers many enchanting ways to start your morning, that doesn’t mean the city is only beautiful during the daytime. When the sun goes down, enjoy the after-hour scene at Liberty Public Market, the Lot, and the other hip destinations we’ve rounded up below.

Enjoy the First Round of Sips & Bites at the Hotel

Weekdays see our on-site Bayside Bar offering happy-hour specials (5-7 p.m.), including $5 margaritas and discounted beer, wine, and well drinks. If you happen to come by on Tuesday or Wednesday, you can also enjoy $2.50 tacos or a $6 plate of spicy chicken wings. Even better, if you’re a guest, the hotel will comp your appetizer.

Enjoy a Second Round of Dinner and Drinks at Liberty Public Market (1.4 miles away)

Around 5 p.m. locals start gathering at Liberty Public Market, which is within walking distance of Holiday Inn San Diego Bayside. Take in the sights along the way during the mile and a half walk from the hotel. After your scenic walk, enjoy the vendors’ daily happy hour, which goes until 6 p.m. from Monday through Friday, and savor an empanada from Parana (we recommend the malbec-beef option with chipotle chimichurri).

Take in a Stunning San Diego Sunset at Sunset Cliffs (2.2 miles away)

One incredible place to spend the early evening in San Diego is Sunset Cliffs, in Ocean Beach. Perch on one of the bluffs in the 68-acre park, facing the Pacific and dramatic caves among the coastal scrub, and watch one of the most exquisite sunsets of your life.

Cruise Over to The Lot and Take in a Flick (1.6 miles away)

The Lot boasts a movie theater with plush seats, where you can savor yet more drinks and snacks thanks to the on-site restaurant and bar, while taking in flicks like The Photograph and Birds of Prey. There’s also outside seating affording great vistas of the NTC promenade.
